Bio

Jeff Hennessy is a songwriter, composer, keyboardist, and musicologist from Nova Scotia, Canada. He has received two East Coast Music Award nominations, and was the regional winner and national finalist in the Canadian National Songwriting Competition where he performed at the Toronto Skydome. As a composer, his music has toured all over North America with Two Planks and a Passion Theatre, and he has been commissioned to write for numerous orchestras, choirs, and soloists. As a keyboardist he performs on piano, Hammond organ, and Rhodes piano, specializing in blues, rock, country, and improvisational contemporary music.

 

Hennessy also holds a Ph.D, in musicology from the University of Toronto, and is an Associate Professor of Music at Acadia University where he teaches music theory, popular music history, songwriting, and musicianship.
